Expedition to Sakhalin with us is a unique opportunity to visit many landmark places of Sakhalin Region, enjoy the local nature and find out interesting facts and legends of the region. You will take a look at Sakhalin through the history of the Russian Empire, Japan, and modern Russia. And we offer to join the expedition from the south to the north of the Island, from the west coast to the eastern one.

The history of Japan is being studied through its heritage in the form of Japanese buildings, Temples, and factories. The Devil's and Witch's bridges are 2 incredible Japanese constructions of their time and, as well as the 50th parallel north, remind of hardships of war conflict between two countries. 

The tour begins at the administrative center of the region - Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where travelers visit the key sights of the town and learn its history. The next stop is Kuznetsov Cape and its lighthouse.

During this expedition, you will have a chance to see famous lighthouses of Russian, Japanese, and Soviet periods of Sakhalin history: at Lopatin, Slepikovskiy, Kuzhetsov, and Jonkier Capes. On the way, you will enjoy the change of landscapes and fauna, and the only thing that remains unchangeable is the view of crashing waves. 

You will visit such Sakhalin towns and settlements as Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Nevelsk, Kholmsk, Tomari, Makarov, Poronaysk, Pobedino, Tymovskoye, Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, etc. Every settlement has its own wonderful history and culture.

Itinerary:

Day 1

Arrival at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation till 02:00 PM.

06:00 PM - Welcome dinner.

Evening sightseeing tour at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Day 2

08:00 AM - Breakfast at the hotel.

09:00 AM - Departure to Nevelsk*.

Departure to Nevelsk along the seaside of Tatar Strait. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Nevelsk – Lopatin Cape – Shebunino – Kuznetsov Cape.

Checking into the “Kordon” camp. Dinner. Tour around the camp.

Excursion at the lighthouse on Kuznetsov Cape.

Departure to Kholmsk.

Arrival at Kholmsk. Accommodation at the hotel. Supper

*The time of departure and day itinerary depends on ebb-and-float time.

Day 3

08:00 AM - Breakfast at the hotel.

Excursion to Devil’s bridge and Witch's bridge.

Dinner at Kholmsk.

Departure to Slepikovskiy Cape. Sightseeing of the lighthouse.

Departure to “Khrustalniy Ruchey (Crystal Stream)” camp in Novosyolovo.

Supper. Optionally you can visit banya.

Day 4

08:00 AM - Breakfast at the camp.

09:00 AM - Departure from Novosyolovo to Tomari.

During the road watching the remnants of the Karafuto period’ buildings from the bus.

Sightseeing tour in Tomari. Visiting the remnants of Karafuto period’ Shinto shrine.

Departure to Tikhaya Bay. Sightseeing tour at Bay.

Departure to Poronaysk.

Arrival at Poronaysk. Accommodation at the hotel. Supper.

Day 5

09:00 AM - Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to Tymovskoye. Stop at the 50th parallel north (the place where Sakhalin was divided between Russia and Japan before the end of World War II). Dinner upon arrival.

Departure to Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy.

Arrival at Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy, checking into the hotel. Supper.

Free time.

Day 6

09:00 AM - Breakfast at the hotel.

Sightseeing tour at Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy. Visit to Chekhov’s museum.

Excursion to Jonkier Cape, Tri Brata rocks, a tunnel built by convicts, the lighthouse at Jonkier Cape which was constructed in the XIX century.

Dinner.

Departure to Due. Sightseeing along with the abandoned settlement.

Departure to Tymovskoye. Supper.

10:00 PM - Boarding the train, departure to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Day 7

08:00 AM - Arrival at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Transfer to the hotel. Checking into the hotel.

Free time.

Day 8

Free day

08:00 PM - Dinner at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk restaurant.

Day 9

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport.
