Tame your Dragon!

Route program

If, according to the legends, the dragons are asleep in Kamchatka, in Primorye they have been tamed and have been giving "performances" for many years in local water bodies. Races on the "dragons" - colorful boats with fierce "heads" and "tails" of mythical animals, accompanied by loud sounds of drums, synchronized rowers and a standing ovation of spectators, is a real visiting card of Primorsky Region.

The mass popularity of the "dragons" in the states of Asia, the absence of age restrictions and the availability of this kind of rowing are the main reasons why it was noticed on all continents. The first race in Russia began to develop the Primorsky Territory.

Currently, races on boats "Dragons" have become popular all over the world, attracting a growing number of spectators.

The team consists of 10-20 rowers, sitting in pairs in a boat 12.49 m long, 1.16 m wide. In the bow of the boat next to the dragon's head facing the team is a drummer who sets the rhythm of the race. At the stern is the helmsman, who manages the ship with a large steering oar. The team needs not so much good physical preparation, as well as coordination and rhythm in the movements of the oars.

This sport has gained wide popularity in many respects by its spectacularity: drums are beating, twenty oarsmen are simultaneously waving oars, the sound of water is deafening ... And until the last moment you do not know who will come first.

"Dragon Boats" appeared in China a few thousand years ago, but the world public could see them only in 1982 in New York. Americans really liked the exotic spectacle. Since then, international competitions have started, rowing on the dragon class has become very popular. In 1998, in China at the World Cup for the first time made Vladivostok and immediately took third place.
